Slang is more common in speech and it is words or phrases that are very informal and they are typically restricted to a particular context or group of people. Assimilation is also used when one sound sounds similar or almost identical to another sound, creating one sound in between words. In line 22 and 39 the word thunder buddies' is a word that can be understood by the ingroup but not understood by those who don't usually use that word.
